In recent years we are seeing a resurgence in off-road driving - there are many car enthusiasts who just love exploring the wilderness. The rejuvenation of off-road driving has led to a large surge in new off-road tires, some from manufacturers who had never ventured into the business before. One such company is Atturo, a manufacturer that has only recently begun to attack the market with value-oriented tires and one that specializes in SUVs, trucks and crossovers.
The Atturo Trail Blade AT is the company's bread-and-butter offering—it's an all-terrain tire. This means that the tire is designed for both on- and off-road conditions, which most SUV and truck owners appreciate very much. But that also means Atturo is entering a category that already has a dozen established products. Tires like the BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2, Goodyear Wrangler All-Terrain Adventure, Falken WildPeak A/T3W, Firestone Destination A/T, Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015 and Kumho Road Venture AT51 already have one chunk of that market, so it's going to be hard for Atturo to make a big impression.
Nevertheless, as a new and relatively unknown manufacturer, Atturo promises to offer high-quality tires at bargain prices. The Trail Blade AT is one of the most affordable all-terrain tires on the market right now, at least when compared to its established competitors. Considering the price, we recommend these tires to owners of older SUVs and trucks such as Jeep Wrangler and Cherokee, Toyota 4Runner, Land Cruiser, Tacoma, Tundra and FJ Cruiser, Ford F-150, Ranger and Bronco, Hummer H3, Chevrolet Silverado, Dodge Ram, Land Rover Discovery, Chevrolet Silverado and Colorado etc.

According to Atturo, the Trail Blade AT is a tire with a tread depth of 12 mm, which should help traction off-road, but also increase the life of the tread. The tread area features an additional four deep grooves and multiple sipes in the tread blocks for excellent wet traction and snow and mud proficiency. Like most of its competitors, the Trail Blade AT is 3PMSF certified, meaning it can be used in severe winter conditions.
A quick look at the competition, however, reveals that this tire doesn't have the deepest profile, nor the most aggressive, meaning it's more of a street-focused tire than a terrain-focused tire. Nevertheless, Atturo offers theTrail Blade XTfor riders who want better off-road traction.
Digging deeper into the tread pattern, we can see wide shoulder blocks with serrated sipes designed for year-round traction. In addition, four wide channels cover the perimeter of the tire and connect to the side channels that wick water from the surface and improve wet performance.
In the center of the tread pattern are interlocking stepped treads for better road stability. These treads are also siped, further aiding in wet traction. The Trail Blade XT also features four wide circumferential grooves that direct water to the side channels for better resistance to aquaplaning.
The Atturo Trail Blade AT is available in metric and LT rated sizes from 15" to 20". This means that the sizes available are suitable for both lighter and heavier SUVs and trucks. The LT-rated models use a tough carcass with a 3-ply sidewall construction, which is good to hear. All models are equipped with a rim protector that takes care of your shiny rims.

What are maintenance indicators?
Atturo doesn't list any maintenance indicators on the Trail Blade AT, which means you have a visual check of the tread. In other words, you need to examine the tire with the penny test. Start by putting a dime in the grooves of the tire tread. If the tire tread touches at least the inverted head of Abraham Lincoln, the tire tread depth is at least 2/32 of an inch.
As for warranty, Atturo offers a 3-year warranty against manufacturing defects and a tread warranty of up to 50,000 miles on the Trail Blade AT. That's a very good number considering the price of the tire and should give you 4-5 years of trouble-free driving. Sure, some manufacturers offer a 60,000-mile warranty on treads, but they're also a lot more expensive.
Is it good for off-road driving?
It really depends on how far you are willing to go. For easier terrain, the Atturo Trail Blade AT is really, really good. On gravel and dirt we found it to be very responsive, especially on faster sections. Traction is also adequate, while lateral support is very good for the price. Thanks to the not too aggressive profile pattern, the Trail Blade AT is also very suitable for riding in the sand, especially when the air is released to lower pressure.
Although the tire offers better traction in the mud than highway tires, we wouldn't push it too hard. Shallow mud shouldn't be a big problem for the tires, but deeper mud shouldn't be an option. That's certainly the case with most all-terrain tires, but even then, the Trail Blade AT falls short of the competition. Driving over larger stones is also not optimal with these tires.
However, if you're just looking for a reliable solution for riding on moderate off-road surfaces, the Trail Blade AT is certainly more than good enough. However, if you are an off-road enthusiast, you should look elsewhere.
How does it behave on dry asphalt?

What the Trail Blade AT loses in deep mud, it gains on the road. We were pleasantly surprised at how this tire performed in everyday use. In our Atturo Trail Blade AT test, we found the tire to be very responsive, almost like a highway tire. Road stability is also very good - driving at 110 km/h feels absolutely safe.
In addition, the tires also had enough traction for hard acceleration, good cornering grip and heavy braking. Again, there are better all-terrain road tires out there, but given the price, the Trail Blade AT is more than good enough.
How is it on wet and slippery roads?
Atturo's focus on giving the Trail Blade AT better wet traction has paid off. Aquaplaning resistance is also excellent in puddles of water. Traction is excellent too, while braking is top-notch. The Trail Blade AT is on par with some of the more expensive competitors in wet conditions, which is kudos indeed.
That being said, how is it on snowy roads?
Looking at the tread pattern of the Trail Blade AT, many people expect excellent performance on snow. While all-season all-terrain tires offer better traction on snow than all-season highway tires, they still can't compete with real winter tires.
Atturo's all-terrain tire carries the 3PMSF symbol, which means it's ready for harsh winter conditions. However, in our Atturo Trail Blade AT review, we found it lacked the proper packed snow traction to fully recommend it for folks living in the northern areas.
Don't get us wrong, the tire is fully capable of handling unpacked snow and it offers some traction on packed snow, but the overall performance still falls short for harsh winter conditions.
But honestly, that's a trend we're seeing with most all-terrain tires - it's certainly not unique to this tire. As with most competitors, we recommend using the right winter tires in winter.
Is it convenient and sophisticated?

Many all-terrain tires suffer from highway noise, which is understandable given the deeper and more aggressive tread pattern. Luckily, the Atturo Trail Blade AT doesn't perform as badly as some of the competition, which is probably due to the milder profile.
On the highway, the tires make more noise than highway tires, which is to be expected. However, as far as all-terrain tires go, the Trail Blade AT is one of the quietest in its category. You won't be disappointed on your next road trip.
However, the ride quality isn't that impressive. Due to the stiffer sidewalls, the tires transfer more vibrations into the cabin, especially on a broken pavement. However, given the tire's low price point, that's to be expected.
Should I buy the Atturo Trail Blade AT?
It really depends on your needs and expectations. The Trail Blade AT certainly doesn't break new ground in terms of performance. In other words, there are many better all-terrain tires out there, both for off-road and on-road use. So if the best performing all terrain tires are important to you, we recommend going for some of the premium products.
Still, there aren't many tires that can match the Trail Blade AT's value for money. When you consider the price, this is one of the best all terrain tires out there. On the road, it performs admirably, both on dry and wet roads. For off-road riding, it has enough traction to handle gravel and dirt and even shallower mud.
Overall, we think you should buy the Trail Blade AT if you own an older SUV or truck, or are just looking for a value-driven tire.
